Treatments

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins in the lower rectum or anus. By age 50, about half of the population will have experienced this sometimes painful condition, which results from an increase in pressure inside the veins of the rectum. Common causes include constipation, pregnancy, childbirth, obesity, heavy lifting, sitting for long periods and diarrhea.
Biliary stenting is used to treat obstructions that occur in the bile ducts. Bile is a substance that helps to digest fats and is produced by the liver, secreted through the bile ducts, and stored in the gallbladder. It is released into the small intestine after a fat-containing meal has been eaten. The release of bile is controlled by a muscle called the sphincter of Oddi found at the junction of the bile ducts and the small intestine.
A sphincterotomy is a procedure performed to treat anal fissures. An anal fissure is a split in the lining of the rectum, possibly resulting from a hard bowel movement. Muscle spasms and subsequent bowel movements prevent healing. Fissures can be encouraged to heal using topical medications and stool softeners, but severe or recurring fissures may require a sphincterectomy.
Biliary Procedures are interventional radiology techniques used to visualize the liver, bile ducts, the gallbladder and the gallbladder ducts.
Stretta therapy is a minimally invasive procedure that significantly reduces GERD symptoms, allowing the majority of patients to eliminate or largely decrease use of PPIs. Stretta is an outpatient procedure performed in less than 60 minutes, allowing patients to return to normal activities the following day. Stretta doesn’t require any incisions, stitches or implants.
